Media and Ad development


Retail Express provides functionality to manage the whole Ad development process for Ad Vehicles like flyers, newspaper ads, TV and Radio etc and their interaction with promotional offers.

The solution supports the reservation of space within the ad vehicle as in Page 6 Section 1 and 2 is for Bath and Shower, Section 3 and 4 is for Kitchen Cleaners; each would be assigned to a specific Category Manager.

The process then allows the opening up of each Section, Line or Spot on the Page and the system provides a candidate list of items to be advertised based on certain criteria, such as already on offer or deal registered by the vendor etc., the candidate list is provided with additional line level detail on that item performance, sales and profits this year, last year, variants etc. Information on last and next time on offer and forward deal visibility are all available to the User.

Once items are selected they are simply dragged and dropped into the spot on the page and other detail added then or later as appropriate. If an offer has been defined then the Ad copy needs to be assigned, this can be done with access to previous Ad words, system provides an archive of normal Ad words used for this item and its family. Separate words can be add for this instance or simply select the current default words.

The process is supported by a workflow and change management structure. Workflow templates can be built by Ad Type and assigned to specific ad vehicles which can then be managed through the process. The module identifies the dates by which each task needs to be completed within the whole task plan and chases the assigned User to remind him what is still outstanding. When the Ad is due to go under change control the system will check that everything is completed correctly and will identify where any work is outstanding. Once under change control no further changes can be made without going through a secure process that briefs all stakeholders of the changes.

Retail Express supports interfaces to Adobe 'In Design' and extracts and delivers to In Design the whole package of data needed to complete the Ad Development process. Whilst most companies use In Design for their Ad and Flyer Graphics work Retail Express partners provide Digital Asset Management software and placement of Ads within AMP2.
